Boat Legality & Safety Compliance

Your safety is our priority — and so is doing things the right way.
At Golden Island Cruises, we’re fully committed to operating a legal, licensed, and safe boat tour service. Our vessels meet all Indonesian maritime tourism standards, with the proper certifications and permits to ensure your journey to Komodo Island is both secure and professional.

Here’s what makes our operation 100% legal and trusted:

Business Identification Number (NIB)

A unique national license obtained through the OSS (Online Single Submission) system, allowing us to operate officially in the tourism sector.

Certificate of Legal Entity Approval

An official decree from the Ministry confirming our company is legally incorporated in Indonesia.

Approval of Vessel Operational Plan (RPK)

Our vessel has obtained official approval through the Vessel Operational Plan (RPK), ensuring all routes and schedules comply with Indonesian maritime transport regulations.

Pas Besar (Certificate of Nationality)

Our vessel is officially registered under the Indonesian flag and holds a valid Pas Besar (Certificate of Nationality), verifying its legal status and national identity.

Minimum Safe Manning Document

The Minimum Safe Manning Document is an official certificate issued by a maritime authority that states the minimum number of qualified crew members required to safely operate a vessel.

International Tonnage Certificate

Our vessel holds a valid International Tonnage Certificate confirming its gross and net tonnage in compliance with international maritime regulations.

Provisional Load Line Certificate

Provisional Load Line Certificate is a temporary certificate issued to a ship that defines the maximum depth to which a vessel may be safely loaded. This depth is marked on the hull with a special symbol called the Plimsoll Line.

Inflatable Life Raft

Each of our vessels is equipped with Inflatable Life Rafts that meet international marine safety standards.

Fire Extinguisher

All of our vessels are equipped with standardized fire extinguishers, placed strategically throughout the boat to ensure immediate access in case of emergencies.

Traditional Passenger Boat Safety Certificate

The Traditional Passenger Boat Safety Certificate is issued by Indonesia’s Harbor Master (KSOP) to confirm that a traditional passenger boat meets national safety standards and is seaworthy.

Management of State-owned Assets (BMN)

is the system for planning and managing all property owned by the Indonesian government. Its goal is to ensure these assets are used effectively and transparently for public benefit.

Operational Appointment Letter from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries

is an official document issued by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. It grants authority or permission to an individual or company to carry out specific operational activities under the ministry’s supervision. Essentially, this letter serves as legal proof that an operation, such as managing a vessel or a marine tourism business, has been approved and complies with government regulations.

Ship Drawing Document

Ship Drawing Document provides a comprehensive, detailed, and precise representation of a vessel’s design and structure. These drawings are fundamental for understanding the layout and components of the ship, ensuring its proper construction, functionality, and safety. The document typically includes several essential sections:

General Arrangement (GA)

The General Arrangement (GA) of a ship defines the layout of the vessel’s spaces for various activities (functions) and the equipment needed, based on their locations and pathways for easy access. There are four essential steps in planning a General Arrangement:

  • Designating Main Spaces

  • Defining Boundaries for Each Space

  • Selecting and Placing Equipment and Furnishings within the Space

  • Providing Access Routes to Each Space

Main spaces include cargo spaces, engine room, accommodation for crew and passengers, navigation room, tanks, and other utility spaces. Key considerations involve cargo volume, machinery layout, crew accommodation, navigational spaces, tank locations, emergency power sources, and cargo handling equipment. The General Arrangement also ensures compliance with classification rules and SOLAS conventions for safety and functionality.

Lines Plan

The Lines Plan is a ship design drawing that illustrates the shape of the hull, especially below the waterline. This plan is essential for determining the hull form, which directly affects engine efficiency and operational costs. The lines plan consists of three main components:

  • Half Breadth Plan: Shows the ship’s shape when cut horizontally, including waterlines at various draft levels.

  • Sheer Plan: Displays the ship’s shape when cut vertically, highlighting the bow, stern, and main deck.

  • Body Plan: Illustrates the ship’s form when cut transversely, with lines showing the curvature of the hull.

The lines plan also includes key reference lines such as the waterlinebaseline, and deck line, all of which contribute to an effective and stable ship design.

3 Fire Safety Plan

The 3 Fire Safety Plan is a comprehensive fire safety strategy that outlines three key components to protect a vessel and its passengers from fire hazards:

  • Fire Prevention
Measures and equipment to minimize the risk of fire, including proper storage of flammable materials and ensuring electrical systems are up to code.

  • Fire Detection
Early warning systems such as smoke detectors, fire alarms, and automatic fire detection systems to alert the crew and passengers in case of fire.

  • Fire Suppression
Equipment such as fire extinguishers, fire hoses, sprinklers, and fire blankets designed to control or extinguish fires if they occur.

Midship

The midship refers to the central point of the vessel’s length the midpoint between the bow (front) and stern (rear). It is a key reference point for measuring various vessel characteristics, including stability, load distribution, and structural integrity.

Preliminary Stability Calculation

The Preliminary Stability Calculation is a technical assessment performed during a vessel’s design or modification phase to evaluate its initial stability. It estimates how the boat will behave in water—especially its ability to resist capsizing under normal conditions.
